'Lay' in the Bible

A troubling vision is declared to me:“The treacherous one acts treacherously,and the destroyer destroys.Advance, Elam! Lay siege, you Medes!I will put an end to all her groaning.”

The sand partridge will make her nest there;she will lay and hatch her eggsand will gather her brood under her shadow.Indeed, the birds of prey will gather there,each with its mate.

I will lay waste mountains and hillsand dry up all their vegetation.I will turn rivers into islandsand dry up marshes.

“Poor Jerusalem, storm-tossed, and not comforted,I will set your stones in black mortar,and lay your foundations in sapphires.
