'Recognition' in the Bible
What more can David say to you? You have given your servant special recognition, O Lord God!
What more can David say to you? You have honored your servant; you have given your servant special recognition.
The king inquired, “What honor and special recognition have been given to Mordecai for this act?”The king’s personal attendants replied, “Nothing has been done for him.”
When they looked from a distance and did not recognize him [because of his disfigurement], they raised their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe [in grief] and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky [in sorrow].
Who understands the power of Your anger? [Who connects this brevity of life among us with Your judgment of sin?]And Your wrath, [who connects it] with the [reverent] fear that is due You?
I considered and observed on earth the following: The race doesn't go to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor food to the wise, nor wealth to the smart, nor recognition to the skilled. Instead, timing and circumstances meet them all.
Let him put his mouth in the dust [in recognition of his unworthiness];There may yet be hope.
For recognition of the Lord's sovereign majesty will fill the earth just as the waters fill up the sea.
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord shall be the only one [worshiped], and His name the only one.
