'Shield' in the Bible

After these things the word of Jehovah came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

Happy art thou, O Israel: Who is like unto thee, a people saved by Jehovah, The shield of thy help, And the sword of thy excellency! And thine enemies shall submit themselves unto thee; And thou shalt tread upon their high places.

They chose new gods; Then was war in the gates: Was there a shield or spear seen Among forty thousand in Israel?

And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

Ye mountains of Gilboa, Let there be no dew nor rain upon you, neither fields of offerings: For there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.

The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the cypress'spears are brandished.

withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one .
