'Thistles' in the Bible

Israel’s Light will become a fire,and its Holy One, a flame.In one day it will burn up Assyria’s thorns and thistles.

The nations rage like the raging of many waters.He rebukes them, and they flee far away,driven before the wind like chaff on the hillsand like tumbleweeds before a gale.

Upon the land of my people shall come up thistles and briars, yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

Her palaces will be overgrown with thorns;her fortified cities, with thistles and briers.She will become a dwelling for jackals,an abode for ostriches.
