'Tried' in the Bible

And it came to pass after these things, that God tried Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! and he said, Here am I.

And David girded his sword upon his dress, and endeavoured to go; for he had not yet tried it. And David said to Saul, I cannot go in these; for I have never tried them. And David put them off him.

As for God, his way is perfect; The word of Jehovah is tried: He is a shield to all that trust in him.

Would that Job may be tried unto the end, because of his answers after the manner of evil men!

The words of Jehovah are pure words, silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Thou hast proved my heart, thou hast visited me by night; thou hast tried me, thou hast found nothing: my thought goeth not beyond my word.
