In which ye rejoice, tho' now for a little while, if need be, ye are grieved through various trials. That the proof of your faith, which is much more precious than of gold, (that perisheth, though tried by fire) may be found unto praise, and honor, and glory, when Jesus Christ shall be revealed:
And he who received the seed as upon stony grounds, is one that heareth the word and immediately receiveth it with joy: yet hath he no root in himself, and therefore is but for a short season; and when affliction cometh, or persecution on account of the word, he is as soon disgusted.
Account it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various trials: knowing this, that the trial of your faith worketh patience; but let patience have it's perfect work, that ye may be entirely perfect, failing in nothing.
And not only so, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience,
For the time is coming when judgement is to begin at the house of God: and if at us first, what will be the end of those that obey not the gospel of God?

Then Jesus answering, said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it therefore unto thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was cured from that very hour.
Now there was a certain person sick, to wit, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and Martha her sister. (And it was Mary, that anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) But when Jesus heard it, He said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. Therefore when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed indeed two days in the place where He was:
For when we were with you, we told you before that we should be afflicted, as it came to pass, and ye know. For this cause being able to wait no longer, I sent to know the state of your faith, least the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor have been in vain.
Fear none of the things which thou wilt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall suffer affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.

While He was yet speaking, there came some from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying, Thy daughter is dead, why dost thou trouble the Master any more? But Jesus hearing the word that was spoken, immediately saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe:

No temptation has yet taken you but what is common to man: and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to sustain; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
And least I should be too much lifted up with the abundance of the revelations, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, least I should be too much elevated. For this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is manifested in thy weakness." But may the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a little while, make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Wherefore let them, that suffer according to the will of God, commit their souls in well-doing to Him as to a faithful Creator.

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God, for your patience and faith under all your persecutions and afflictions which ye endure.
And they stoned Stephen calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And bending his knees, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this he fell asleep.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power might be evidently of God, and not of us: being afflicted on every side, but not oppressed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken;
