'Ask' in the Bible
Jesus therefore said to them, I will ask you if it is lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?
To every one that asks of thee, give; and from him that takes away what is thine, ask it not back.
But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them that they should not perceive it. And they feared to ask him concerning this saying.
And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.
But of whom of you that is a father shall a son ask bread, and the father shall give him a stone? or also a fish, and instead of a fish shall give him a serpent?
or if also he shall ask an egg, shall give him a scorpion?
If therefore ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall the Father who is of heaven give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
but he who knew it not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. And to every one to whom much has been given, much shall be required from him; and to whom men have committed much, they will ask from him the more.
And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose it? thus shall ye say to him, Because the Lord has need of it.
And he answering said to them, I also will ask you one thing, and tell me:
and if I should ask you, ye would not answer me at all, nor let me go;
