'Away' in the Bible
There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.
The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”
He said,“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,And naked I shall return there.The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away.Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
“I waste away; I will not live forever.Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.
“Will You never turn Your gaze away from me,Nor let me alone until I swallow my spittle?
“Why then do You not pardon my transgressionAnd take away my iniquity?For now I will lie down in the dust;And You will seek me, but I will not be.”
“Were He to snatch away, who could restrain Him?Who could say to Him, ‘What are You doing?’
“Now my days are swifter than a runner;They flee away, they see no good.
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away,And do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;
“He deprives the trusted ones of speechAnd takes away the discernment of the elders.
“He makes the nations great, then destroys them;He enlarges the nations, then leads them away.
“But the falling mountain crumbles away,And the rock moves from its place;
Water wears away stones,Its torrents wash away the dust of the earth;So You destroy man’s hope.
“You forever overpower him and he departs;You change his appearance and send him away.
“Indeed, you do away with reverenceAnd hinder meditation before God.
“Why does your heart carry you away?And why do your eyes flash,
“He will not escape from darkness;The flame will wither his shoots,And by the breath of His mouth he will go away.
“He flies away like a dream, and they cannot find him;Even like a vision of the night he is chased away.
“The increase of his house will depart;His possessions will flow away in the day of His anger.
“Are they as straw before the wind,And like chaff which the storm carries away?
“You say, ‘God stores away a man’s iniquity for his sons.’Let God repay him so that he may know it.
“You have sent widows away empty,And the strength of the orphans has been crushed.
Who were snatched away before their time,Whose foundations were washed away by a river?
“They drive away the donkeys of the orphans;They take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
“They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing,And they take away the sheaves from the hungry.
“As God lives, who has taken away my right,And the Almighty, who has embittered my soul,
“Far be it from me that I should declare you right;Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
“Terrors overtake him like a flood;A tempest steals him away in the night.
“The east wind carries him away, and he is gone,For it whirls him away from his place.
“Terrors are turned against me;They pursue my honor as the wind,And my prosperity has passed away like a cloud.
“For I do not know how to flatter,Else my Maker would soon take me away.
