And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and with his relations, and in his own house.

and since the Jews seek signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews indeed an offense, and to the gentiles foolishness, but to the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and wisdom of God;
And I, brothers, if I preach circumcision, why am I yet persecuted? Then has the offense of the cross ceased.
Let us not therefore judge one another, but judge this rather, not to place a stumbling-block or an offense before a brother.
But he turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me! For you regard not the things of God, but those of men.
And David says, Let their table become a trap and a snare and an offense and a stumbling block to them; let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back always.
