'Baptism' in the Bible
When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to the place of his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
Where did John’s baptism come from? From heaven or from men?”They began to argue among themselves, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’
John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup I drink or to be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
“We are able,” they told Him.Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with.
Was John’s baptism from heaven or from men? Answer Me.”
He went into all the vicinity of the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
(And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how it consumes Me until it is finished!

You know the events that took place throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:
Before He came to public attention, John had previously proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught the things about Jesus accurately, although he knew only John’s baptism.
“Then what baptism were you baptized with?” he asked them.“With John’s baptism,” they replied.
Paul said, “John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people that they should believe in the One who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”
Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.
Having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
