'Break' in the Bible
“Again, you have heard that it was said to our ancestors, You must not break your oath, but you must keep your oaths to the Lord.
“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal.
He will not break a bruised reed,and He will not put out a smoldering wick,until He has led justice to victory.
“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat!”
He answered them, “And why do you break God’s commandment because of your tradition?
When they came to Jesus, they did not break His legs since they saw that He was already dead.
On the first day of the week, we assembled to break bread. Paul spoke to them, and since he was about to depart the next day, he extended his message until midnight.
But they struck a sandbar and ran the ship aground. The bow jammed fast and remained immovable, while the stern began to break up by the pounding of the waves.
The cup of blessing that we give thanks for, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?
For it is written:Rejoice, childless woman,who does not give birth.Burst into song and shout,you who are not in labor,for the children of the desolate are many,more numerous than thoseof the woman who has a husband.
I also saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?”
