'Flame' in the Bible
“For a fire went forth from Heshbon,A flame from the town of Sihon;It devoured Ar of Moab,The dominant heights of the Arnon.
For it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.
“He will not escape from darkness;The flame will wither his shoots,And by the breath of His mouth he will go away.
“Indeed, the light of the wicked goes out,And the flame of his fire gives no light.
“His breath kindles coals,And a flame goes forth from his mouth.
Like fire that burns the forestAnd like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,
And a fire blazed up in their company;The flame consumed the wicked.
“Put me like a seal over your heart,Like a seal on your arm.For love is as strong as death,Jealousy is as severe as Sheol;Its flashes are flashes of fire,The very flame of the Lord.
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubbleAnd dry grass collapses into the flame,So their root will become like rot and their blossom blow away as dust;For they have rejected the law of the Lord of hostsAnd despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts, will send a wasting disease among his stout warriors;And under his glory a fire will be kindled like a burning flame.
And the light of Israel will become a fire and his Holy One a flame,And it will burn and devour his thorns and his briars in a single day.
From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise,With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire.
And the Lord will cause His voice of authority to be heard,And the descending of His arm to be seen in fierce anger,And in the flame of a consuming fireIn cloudburst, downpour and hailstones.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,Nor will the flame burn you.
“Behold, they have become like stubble,Fire burns them;They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame;There will be no coal to warm byNor a fire to sit before!
“In the shadow of HeshbonThe fugitives stand without strength;For a fire has gone forth from HeshbonAnd a flame from the midst of Sihon,And it has devoured the forehead of MoabAnd the scalps of the riotous revelers.
and say to the forest of the Negev, ‘Hear the word of the Lord: thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am about to kindle a fire in you, and it will consume every green tree in you, as well as every dry tree; the blazing flame will not be quenched and the whole surface from south to north will be burned by it.

“Then the house of Jacob will be a fireAnd the house of Joseph a flame;But the house of Esau will be as stubble.And they will set them on fire and consume them,So that there will be no survivor of the house of Esau,”For the Lord has spoken.
