'Governor' in the Bible
And [after] tying him up, they led [him] away and handed [him] over to Pilate the governor.
So Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the king of the Jews?" And Jesus said, "You say [so]."
And he did not reply to him, not even with reference to one statement, so that the governor was very astonished.
Now at each feast, the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner to the crowd--the one whom they wanted.
So the governor answered [and] said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?" And they said, "Barabbas!"
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor's residence [and] gathered the whole cohort to him.
And if this [matter] is heard before the governor, we will satisfy him and {keep you out of trouble}."
(This first registration took place [when] Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, [when] Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,
And they watched [him] closely [and] sent spies who pretended they were upright, in order that they could catch him in a statement, so that they could hand him over to the authority and the jurisdiction of the governor.
And provide mounts so that they can put Paul on them [and] bring [him] safely to Felix the governor."

{The horsemen}, [when they] came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, also presented Paul to him.
And after five days the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and an attorney, a certain Tertullus, all of whom brought charges against Paul to the governor.
And [when] the governor gestured for him to speak, Paul replied, "[Because I] know you have been a judge over this nation for many years, I defend myself cheerfully [with respect to] the things concerning myself.
Both the king and the governor got up, and Bernice and those who were sitting with them.
In Damascus, the governor under King Aretas was guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to take me into custody,
