'Joyful' in the Bible

And Melchizedek blessed Abram and said,“Blessed (joyful, favored) be Abram by God Most High,Creator and Possessor of heaven and earth;

Seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the Lord your God in the place which the Lord chooses, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.

All the people went up after him, and they were playing on flutes and rejoicing with great joy, so that the earth shook and seemed to burst open with their [joyful] sound.

They observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with joy, for the Lord had caused them to rejoice and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them, so that he encouraged them and strengthened their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Haman went away that day joyful and in good spirits. But when he saw Mordecai at the king’s gate refusing to stand up or show fear before him, he was filled with rage toward Mordecai.

“Behold, let that night be barren [and empty];Let no joyful voice enter it.

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughterAnd your lips with joyful shouting [if you are found blameless].

But let all who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice,Let them ever sing for joy;Because You cover and shelter them,Let those who love Your name be joyful and exult in You.

Sing to Him a new song;Play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud and joyful sound.

Then my soul shall rejoice in the Lord;It shall rejoice in His salvation.

My soul [my life, my very self] is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,And my mouth offers praises [to You] with joyful lips.

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;

Blessed and happy are the people who know the joyful sound [of the trumpet’s blast]!They walk, O Lord, in the light and favor of Your countenance!

O come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord;Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with a song of thanksgiving;Let us shout joyfully to Him with songs.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;Shout [in jubilation] and sing for joy and sing praises.

With trumpets and the sound of the hornShout with joy before the King, the Lord.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.

He makes the barren woman live in the houseAs a joyful mother of children.Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;Let Zion’s children rejoice in their King.

Let the godly ones exult in glory;Let them sing for joy on their beds.

The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked,But He blesses the home of the just and righteous.

The light of the eyes rejoices the hearts of others,And good news puts fat on the bones.

In the day of prosperity be joyful,But in the day of adversity consider thatGod has made the one as well as the other,So that man will not find out anything that will be after him.

Then I commended pleasure and enjoyment, because a man [without God] has no better thing under the sun than to eat and to drink and to be merry, for this will stand by him in his toil through the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.

Gladness and joy are taken away from the fruitful field;In the vineyards there will be no singing or joyful sound;No treader treads out wine in the presses,For I (God) put an end to the joyful shouting.

Shout for joy, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth,And break forth into singing, O mountains!For the Lord has comforted His peopleAnd will have compassion on His afflicted.

All these I will bring to My holy mountainAnd make them joyful in My house of prayer.Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar;For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land; the time has come, the day is near—tumult rather than joyful shouting on the mountains.
