If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

“Riches and honor are with me,
Enduring wealth and righteousness.

Long life is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor.

Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.

The rich man’s wealth is his fortress,
The ruin of the poor is their poverty.

Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver and in gold.

For thus says the Lord, “Behold, I extend peace to her like a river,
And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
And you will be nursed, you will be carried on the hip and fondled on the knees.

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich,
When the glory of his house is increased;

The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your beast and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.

Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.

Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.

The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord
Are riches, honor and life.

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,
And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look on?

“Then you will see and be radiant,
And your heart will thrill and rejoice;
Because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you,
The wealth of the nations will come to you.

In the day of prosperity be happy,
But in the day of adversity consider—
God has made the one as well as the other
So that man will not discover anything that will be after him.

It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich,
And He adds no sorrow to it.

“The Lord makes poor and rich;
He brings low, He also exalts.

Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles,
But the one who gathers by labor increases it.

So the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks and female and male servants and camels and donkeys.

So King Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.

God said to Solomon, “Because you had this in mind, and did not ask for riches, wealth or honor, or the life of those who hate you, nor have you even asked for long life, but you have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may rule My people over whom I have made you king,

When you set your eyes on it, it is gone.
For wealth certainly makes itself wings
Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.

a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction.

Behold, these are the wicked;
And always at ease, they have increased in wealth.

and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy;

Wealth adds many friends,
But a poor man is separated from his friend.

“May peace be within your walls,
And prosperity within your palaces.”

Nevertheless I did not believe the reports, until I came and my eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. You exceed in wisdom and prosperity the report which I heard.

“Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things;

“They spend their days in prosperity,
And suddenly they go down to Sheol.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage,
But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

If I have gloated because my wealth was great,
And because my hand had secured so much;

“Why do the wicked still live,
Continue on, also become very powerful?

And by knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches.

Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’

saying with a loud voice,“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”

His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

Again, proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”’”

In his days may the righteous flourish,
And abundance of peace till the moon is no more.

For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.

“He swallows riches,
But will vomit them up;
God will expel them from his belly.
