'Pleasures' in the Bible

For he has covered his face with his fat,Adding layers of fat to his thighs [giving himself up to pleasures],

You will show me the path of life;In Your presence is fullness of joy;In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;And You allow them to drink from the river of Your delights.

“Stolen waters (pleasures) are sweet [because they are forbidden];And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”

He who is satisfied loathes honey,But to the hungry soul any bitter thing is sweet.

Then I saw that [even secular] wisdom [that brings sorrow] is better than [the pleasures of] folly and self-indulgence as light excels darkness.

Remember [thoughtfully] also your Creator in the days of your youth [for you are not your own, but His], before the evil days come or the years draw near when you will say [of physical pleasures], “I have no enjoyment and delight in them”;

“Now, then, hear this, you who live a luxuriant life,You who dwell safely and securely,Who say in your heart (mind),‘I am [the queen], and there is no one besides me.I shall not sit as a widow,Nor know the loss of children.’
