'Rock' in the Bible

Enter the rock and hide in the dustFrom the terror of the Lord and from the splendor of His majesty.

“Then He shall become a sanctuary;But to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over,And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The Lord of hosts will arouse a scourge against him like the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and His staff will be over the sea and He will lift it up the way He did in Egypt.

For you have forgotten the God of your salvationAnd have not remembered the rock of your refuge.Therefore you plant delightful plantsAnd set them with vine slips of a strange god.

‘What right do you have here,And whom do you have here,That you have hewn a tomb for yourself here,You who hew a tomb on the height,You who carve a resting place for yourself in the rock?

“Trust in the Lord forever,For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.

You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival,And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute,To go to the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel.

“His rock will pass away because of panic,And his princes will be terrified at the standard,”Declares the Lord, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

Each will be like a refuge from the windAnd a shelter from the storm,Like streams of water in a dry country,Like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land.

He will dwell on the heights,His refuge will be the impregnable rock;His bread will be given him,His water will be sure.

‘Do not tremble and do not be afraid;Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it?And you are My witnesses.Is there any God besides Me,Or is there any other Rock?I know of none.’”

They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts.He made the water flow out of the rock for them;He split the rock and the water gushed forth.

“Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness,Who seek the Lord:Look to the rock from which you were hewnAnd to the quarry from which you were dug.
