'Rooster' in the Bible
Who has put wisdom in the ibis, or who has given understanding to the rooster?
a strutting rooster or he-goat, and a king [whose] army [is] with him.
Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you that during this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times!"
Then he began to curse and to swear with an oath, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a rooster crowed.
And Peter remembered the statement Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times," and he went outside [and] wept bitterly.
Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming--whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or early in the morning--
And Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you that today--this night--before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times!"
But he denied [it], saying, "I neither know nor understand what you mean!" And he went out into the gateway, and a rooster crowed.
And immediately a rooster crowed for the second time. And Peter remembered the statement, how Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times," and throwing himself down, he began to weep.
And he said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times [that you] know me!"
But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about!" And immediately, [while] he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
And the Lord turned around [and] looked intently at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times."
Jesus replied, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly I say to you, the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times!
So Peter denied [it] again, and immediately a rooster crowed.
