'Stands' in the Bible

The Lord rises to contend,And stands to judge the people.

“Howl, O gate; cry, O city!Melt away, O Philistia, all of you;For smoke comes out of the north,And there is no straggler in his ranks and no one stands detached [in Hezekiah’s battalions].

But the noble man conceives noble and magnificent things;And he stands by what is noble and magnificent.

“They lift it on their shoulders [in religious processions or into battle] and carry it;They set it in its place and there it remains standing.It cannot move from its place.Even if one cries to it [for help], the idol cannot answer;It cannot save him from his distress.

Justice is pushed back,And righteous behavior stands far away;For truth has fallen in the city square,And integrity cannot enter.
