'Talking' in the Bible
When He finished talking with him, God withdrew from Abraham.
Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Listen! I heard your father talking with your brother Esau. He said,
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
As they continued walking and talking, a chariot of fire with horses of fire suddenly appeared and separated the two of them. Then Elijah went up into heaven in the whirlwind.
But I also have a mind;I am not inferior to you.Who doesn’t know the things you are talking about?
How long until you stop talking?Show some sense, and then we can talk.
City officials stopped talkingand covered their mouths with their hands.
“If you keep from desecrating the Sabbath,from doing whatever you want on My holy day;if you call the Sabbath a delight,and the holy day of the Lord honorable;if you honor it, not going your own ways,seeking your own pleasure, or talking too much;
“Now, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord!’
I asked, “What are these, my lord?”The angel who was talking to me replied, “I will show you what they are.”
So the crowd was amazed when they saw those unable to speak talking, the deformed restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they gave glory to the God of Israel.
Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
But he denied it in front of everyone: “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
He was openly talking about this. So Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.
Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
But he denied it: “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about!” Then he went out to the entryway, and a rooster crowed.
Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”
Suddenly, two men were talking with Him—Moses and Elijah.
As some were talking about the temple complex, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, He said,
But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
So they said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts ablaze within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?”
Just then His disciples arrived, and they were amazed that He was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What do You want?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
Still, nobody was talking publicly about Him because they feared the Jews.
Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was He was talking about.
They said, “What is this He is saying, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what He’s talking about!”
So Pilate said to Him, “You’re not talking to me? Don’t You know that I have the authority to release You and the authority to crucify You?”
While talking with him, he went on in and found that many had come together there.
Since he would not be persuaded, we stopped talking and simply said, “The Lord’s will be done!”
I say this to our shame: We have been weak.But in whatever anyone dares to boast—I am talking foolishly—I also dare:
Are they servants of Christ?I’m talking like a madman—I’m a better one:with far more labors,many more imprisonments,far worse beatings, near death many times.
Coarse and foolish talking or crude joking are not suitable, but rather giving thanks.
This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church.
Slaves are to be submissive to their masters in everything, and to be well-pleasing, not talking back
For He has not subjected to angels the world to come that we are talking about.
