'Waited' in the Bible

“The caravans of Tema looked [for water],The caravans of Sheba waited for them [in vain].

“He does not believe that he will return out of the darkness [for fear of being murdered],And he is destined for the sword [of God’s vengeance].

“They listened to me and waitedAnd kept silent for my counsel.

“They waited for me [and for my words] as for the rain,And they opened their mouths as for the spring rain.

“When I expected good, then came evil [to me];And when I waited for light, then came darkness.

Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because the others were years older than he.

“You see, I waited for your words,I listened to your [wise] reasons,While you pondered and searched out what to say.
