'Wilderness' in the Bible
Who made the world like a wildernessAnd overthrew its cities,Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’

Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voices,The settlements where Kedar inhabits.Let the inhabitants of Sela sing aloud,Let them shout for joy from the tops of the mountains.
“Behold, I will do something new,Now it will spring forth;Will you not be aware of it?I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,Rivers in the desert.
“The beasts of the field will glorify Me,The jackals and the ostriches,Because I have given waters in the wildernessAnd rivers in the desert,To give drink to My chosen people.
“Why was there no man when I came?When I called, why was there none to answer?Is My hand so short that it cannot ransom?Or have I no power to deliver?Behold, I dry up the sea with My rebuke,I make the rivers a wilderness;Their fish stink for lack of waterAnd die of thirst.
Indeed, the Lord will comfort Zion;He will comfort all her waste places.And her wilderness He will make like Eden,And her desert like the garden of the Lord;Joy and gladness will be found in her,Thanksgiving and sound of a melody.
Who led them through the depths?Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble;
Your holy cities have become a wilderness,Zion has become a wilderness,Jerusalem a desolation.
