But when they still could not credit it for joy, and marvelled, he said unto them, Have ye here any thing eatable?

And look, I [am going to] send upon you apostles what my Father promised [i.e., the Holy Spirit. See John 14:26]; but you should wait in the city [of Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from above." [Note: This promise was fulfilled when the apostles were immersed in the Holy Spirit. See Acts 1:4 - 2:4].

John told the truth about him when he cried out, "This is the person about whom I said, "The one who comes after me ranks higher than me, because he existed before me.'"

It was of him that I spoke when I said 'After me there is coming a man who is now before me, for he was ever First.'

The next day, when John was standing with two of his disciples,

When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look! The Lamb of God!”

When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

The same findeth, first, his own brother Simon, and saith unto him - We have found the Messiah! which is, when translated, Anointed.

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

and he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looking on him, said: You are Simon, the son of Jonah; you shall be called Cephas (which, when translated, is Rock).

When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said: "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit!"

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
