When you are in trouble (distress) and all these things happen to you in the latter days, turn to Jehovah your God and obey his voice. Jehovah your God is a merciful God. He will not forsake you. He will not destroy you, nor forget the covenant he made with your fathers.

You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be his own special people out of all the nations of the earth. Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations. You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. Destruction » Who shall not be destroyed
Abraham came near and said: Will you destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city. Would you also destroy the place and not spare it because the righteous people are there? Surely you would not do that! Abraham again queried: Please do not be angry as I speak once more: Suppose ten should be found there? God said: I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.

I am in a desperate situation, David told Gad. Please let us fall into Jehovah's hands because he is very merciful. But do not let me fall into human hands.
