Afflictions » Blessings in disguise
For our tribulation, which is momentary and light, prepares an exceeding and eternal weight of glory unto us;
Behold, blessed is the man whom God chastens; therefore, do not despise not the correction of the Almighty.
But he has known the way that I take; he has tried me, and I have come forth as gold.
Before I was humbled, I went into error, but now I keep thy spoken word.
It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
and said, I cried by reason of my tribulation unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst hear my voice.
And I will put the third part into the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; He shall call on my name, and I will hear him; I will say, My people, and he shall say, The LORD is my God.
It is true that no chastening at present seems to be cause for joy, but rather for grief; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised by it.
And I said unto him, lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are those who came out of great tribulation and have washed their long robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
