Thou dost cause all the wicked of the earth to come undone like dross; therefore I have loved thy testimonies.

And his Spirit, as an overflowing stream, shall break even unto the neck to sift the Gentiles with the sieve of vanity and to put a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

They are all rebellious princes; they walk with deception: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. As they gather silver and brass and iron and lead and tin into the midst of the furnace to blow the fire upon it to melt it, so will I gather you in my anger and in my fury, and I will cause you to rest, and melt you. As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross; they are all brass and tin and iron and lead in the midst of the furnace; they are become the dross of silver.

How is the faithful city become a harlot! It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers. Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: Thy princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; every one loves bribes and follows after rewards; they do not hear the fatherless in judgment, neither does the cause of the widow come unto them.

setting afterward the empty pot upon the coals thereof that it may become red hot and may burn and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed. In fraud she has become weary, and her great scum did not go forth out of her; her scum shall be in the fire. So then, leave all uncleanness and remains of malice and receive with meekness the word ingested within you, which is able to cause your souls to be saved.

and I will turn my hand upon thee and according to pureness purge away thy dross and take away all thy tin; and I will restore thy judges as at the first and thy counsellors as at the beginning; afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tries the hearts.

Take away the dross from the silver, and a vessel shall come forth for the finer.

Many shall be purified and made white and purged, but the wicked shall get worse; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

But who may abide the time of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he shall be like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit to refine and to purify the silver: for he shall purify the sons of Levi and purge them as gold and silver that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

For thou, O God, hast proved us; thou hast refined us as silver is refined. Thou didst bring us into the net; thou didst lay affliction upon our loins. Thou hast placed a man over our head; we went through fire and through water, but thou didst bring us out into abundance.

Behold, I have refined thee, and not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Therefore thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Behold, I will melt them and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

And I will put the third part into the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; He shall call on my name, and I will hear him; I will say, My people, and he shall say, The LORD is my God.
