for she said to herself, "If only I touch his cloak I will be healed."

And [as] they were traveling on the road, someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go!" And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky [have] nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay [his] head." And he said to another, "Follow me!" But he said, "Lord, first allow me to go [and] bury my father." read more.
But he said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead! But you go [and] proclaim the kingdom of God." And another [person] also said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say farewell to those in my house." But Jesus said, "No one who puts [his] hand on the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God!"




"The sower went out to sow his seed, and while he was sowing, {some seed} fell on the side of the path and was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it. And other [seed] fell on the rock, and [when it] came up, it withered, because it did not have moisture. And other [seed] fell in the midst of the thorn plants, and the thorn plants grew up with [it] [and] choked it. read more.
And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and [when it] came up, it produced a hundred times as much grain." [As he] said these [things], he called out, "The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!" And his disciples asked him what this parable meant. And he said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest [they are] in parables, so that 'Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.' Now the parable means this: the seed is the word of God, and those beside the path are the ones who have heard. Then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they may not believe [and] be saved. And those on the rock [are those] who receive the word with joy when they hear [it], and these do not have [enough] root, who believe for a time and in a time of testing fall away. And the [seed] that fell into the thorn plants--these are the ones who hear and [as they] go along are choked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life, and they do not bear fruit to maturity. But the [seed] on the good soil--these are the ones who, [after] hearing the word, hold fast to [it] with a noble and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.

How you go about so much changing your way! Also by Egypt you will be put to shame, just as you were put to shame by Assyria.

What will I do with you, Ephraim? What will I do with you, Judah? Your love [is] like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes away early in the morning.

Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is a man who strays from his place.

Fear Yahweh, my son, and the king; with those who change, do not associate. For suddenly their disaster will come, and the ruin of {both of them}, who knows?

Ephraim mixes himself with the nations; Ephraim is a bread cake not turned over.

Their heart is false; now they must bear [their] guilt. He himself will break down their altars; he will destroy their stone pillars.

And a scribe approached [and] said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go!" And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky [have] nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." And another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." read more.
But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead!"

[When] anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand [it], the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is what was sown on the side of the path. And what was sown on the rocky ground--this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy. But he does not have a root in himself, but {lasts only a little while}, and [when] affliction or persecution happens because of the word, immediately he falls away. read more.
And what was sown into the thorn plants--this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of this world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word and it becomes unproductive.

And these are the ones beside the path where the word is sown, and whenever they hear [it], immediately Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. And these are like the ones sown on the rocky ground, who whenever they hear the word immediately receive it with joy. And they have no root in themselves, but are temporary. But let him ask for [it] in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed about. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.


And behold, Amariah the chief priest [is] over you in all matters of the word of Yahweh, and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the governor of the house of Judah, in all matters of the king, and the Levites [shall be] before you [as] officials. Be strong and do [well]! May Yahweh be with the upright."



Only be strong and very courageous {to observe diligently the whole law} that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn aside from it, [to] the right or left, so that you may succeed {wherever you go}.

No domestic slave is able to serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and money."

Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations,

And another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead!"

The one who is not with me is against me, and the one who does not gather with me scatters.

The one who is not with me is against me, and the one who does not gather with me scatters.

Remember Lot's wife!

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, live in him, firmly rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding with thankfulness.

But you, O man of God, flee from these [things], and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patient endurance, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I command you, in the sight of God who gives life to all [things] and Christ Jesus who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, read more.

And he said to them, "These [are] my words that I spoke to you [while I] was still with you, that everything that is written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, "Thus it is written [that] the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day, read more.
and repentance and the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.


Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them saying, "Do not go on the road to the Gentiles, and do not enter into a city of the Samaritans, but go instead to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And [as you] are going, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven has come near!'

And he summoned the twelve and began to send them out two [by] two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. And he commanded them that they take along nothing for the journey except only a staff--no bread, no traveler's bag, no money in their belts-- but to put on sandals and not to wear two tunics. read more.
And he said to them, "Whenever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. And whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, [as you] go out from there, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them." And they went out [and] proclaimed that [people] should repent.

Now early on the first [day] of the week, [after he] rose, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had expelled seven demons. She went out [and] announced [it] to those who were with him [while they] were mourning and weeping. And those, [when they] heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, refused to believe [it]. read more.
And after these [things], he appeared in a different form to two of them [as they] were walking, [while they] were going out into the countryside. And these went [and] reported [it] to the others, and they did not believe them. And later, [while] they were reclining at table, he appeared to the eleven. And he reprimanded their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him [after he] had been raised. And he said to them, "Go into all the world [and] preach the gospel to all creation.

the mystery [which] has been hidden from the ages and from the generations, but has now been revealed to his saints, to whom God wanted to make known what [is] the glorious wealth of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory, whom we proclaim, [by] admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom, in order that we may present every person mature in Christ,

preach the word, be ready in season [and] out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all patience and instruction. For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound teaching, but in accordance with their own desires, they will accumulate for themselves teachers, {because they have an insatiable curiosity},


Now it happened that when the days were approaching {for him to be taken up}, he set [his] face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers before {him}, and they went [and] entered into a village of the Samaritans in order to prepare for him. And they did not welcome him because {he was determined to go} to Jerusalem. read more.
Now [when] the disciples James and John saw [it], they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?" Now the feast of the Jews--the [feast of] Tabernacles--was near. So his brothers said to him, "Depart from here and go to Judea, so that your disciples also can see your works that you are doing. For no one does anything in secret and [yet] he himself desires to be {publicly recognized}. If you are doing these [things], reveal yourself to the world!" read more.
(For not even his brothers believed in him.) So Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it, that its deeds are evil. You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, because my time is not yet completed. And [when he] had said these [things], he remained in Galilee. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but (as it were) in secret. So the Jews were looking for him at the feast, and were saying, "Where is he?"
