and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect.
We know moreover that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
But some one will say, How are the dead to rise? and with what body do they come? Fool! that which thou sowest is not brought to life unless it die; and what thou sowest, not the body that shall be dost thou sow, but a bare grain, of wheat perhaps, or of some of the other grains;read more.
but God giveth it a body, as he willed, and to every seed its own body. All flesh is not the same flesh; but there is one flesh of men, another of beasts, another of birds, another of fishes. There are also heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown an animal body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is an animal body, there is also a spiritual body. Thus is it also written: "The first man Adam became a living soul;" the last Adam a lifegiving spirit. But the spiritual is not first, but the animal; and afterward the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As was the earthy, such are they also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly; and as we bore the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. And this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass that which is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is thy sting? Where, O death, is thy victory?" The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the Law. But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
No temptation hath come upon you, but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what ye are able to endure, but will with the temptation furnish also the way to escape, that ye may be able to endure it.
These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, wellpleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship; and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect.
Thus do ye too consider yourselves as dead to sin, but alive to God, through Jesus Christ.
Follow my example, as I do that of Christ.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before prepared that we should walk in them.
that as to your former way of life ye should put off the old man, who perisheth according to the lusts of deceit,
that as to your former way of life ye should put off the old man, who perisheth according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that ye put on the new man, who was created according to God in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, as Christ also loved you, and gave himself for you an offering and a sacrifice to God, of a sweet odor.
I can do all things in him who strengtheneth me.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world giveth, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.
Brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold of it; but one thing I do, forgetting the things that are behind, and stretching forth to the things that are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the heavenly calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Beloved, now are we children of God, and it hath not yet been manifested what we shall be. We know that, when it shall be manifested, we shall be like him; because we shall see him as he is. And every one that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all with unveiled face beholding in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Lord, the Spirit.
And it came to pass about eight days after this discourse, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was changed, and his raiment became white and glistening. And lo! two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah;read more.
