We ought to thank God always for you, brethren, as is fit, because your faith increaseth exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each ether aboundeth;
Meditate on these things, give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest to all.
even for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge selfcontrol, and to selfcontrol endurance, and to endurance godliness, and to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, if it abide not in the vine, so neither can ye, unless ye abide in me.
but cleaving to truth in love, may grow up in all things unto him who is the head, even Christ;
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, wellpleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship; and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect.
but clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and think not about satisfying the lusts of the flesh.
Follow my example, as I do that of Christ.

Watch, and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Defraud not one another, except by agreement for a time, that ye may have a season for prayer; and be together again, that Satan may not tempt you through your incontinence.
No temptation hath come upon you, but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what ye are able to endure, but will with the temptation furnish also the way to escape, that ye may be able to endure it.
For this cause, when I too could no longer forbear, I sent in order to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor should prove in vain.
For in that he himself hath suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations; knowing that the trying of your faith worketh endurance.
Because thou hast kept my injunction of endurance, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which is about to come upon the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on everlasting life, to which thou wast called, and didst profess the good profession before many witnesses.
It is for chastening that ye endure; God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he, whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye are without chastening, of which all have been made partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons. Furthermore, we were chastened by the fathers of our flesh, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?read more.
For they indeed for a few days chastened us, according as it seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now all chastening for the present indeed seemeth to be not joyous, but grievous; but afterward it yieldeth the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.

Watch, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong;
Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Thou therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus;
And be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled with the Spirit,
But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. For the flesh hath desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these oppose one another, that ye may not do the things that ye would. But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the Law.
because the gospel preached by us came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; as ye well know what sort of persons we became among you for your sake.
I charge thee before God, and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom; preach the word, be urgent in season, out of season, confute, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own desires will they heap to themselves teachers; because they have itching ears;
For while on account of the length of time ye ought to be teachers, ye again have need that some one should teach you the first elements of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.
