Behold what manner of love the Father hath given to us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this cause the world knows us not, because it knew Him not. Beloved, now are we children of God, and never yet was it manifested what we shall be. We know that, if He shall be manifested, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.
Not as shaming you, do I write these things, but as my beloved children, admonishing you.
Now, for a recompense in like kind (I am speaking as to my children), be ye also enlarged.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those believing in His name;
Become ye, therefore, imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, as Christ also loved you, and delivered Himself up for you, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of sweet smell.
And it shall be that in the place where it was said, 'Ye are not My people,' there shall they be called sons of the living God."
