For this ye know, that no fornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man, who is also an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Now these things became types of us, that we should not lust after evil things as they lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches and who gives to the rich shall surely come to want.
The man of truth shall abound with blessings, but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be absolved.
Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my judgment: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and blaspheme the name of my God.

The king by judgment establishes the land, but he that receives gifts shall overthrow it.
Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would first go unto you and prepare beforehand your blessing, of which ye had given notice before that the same might be ready as a blessing, and not as of covetousness.
