For the LORD, who is high and lifted up, looks upon the humble, but the proud he does not know.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.
Behold, I am against thee, O thou proud one, said the Lord GOD of the hosts; for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.
The Lord GOD has sworn by himself, the LORD God of the hosts said, I abhor the grandeur of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore I will give the city with all that is therein over to the enemy.
But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.
Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
For the day of the LORD of the hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
The LORD of the hosts has purposed it to stain the pride of all glory and to bring down all those who are exalted in the earth.
Thou wilt save the poor in spirit; but thine eyes are upon the haughty that thou may bring them down.
O love the LORD, all ye his merciful ones, for the LORD preserves the faithful and plentifully rewards the proud doer.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and build up and glorify the King of heaven because all his works are truth, and his ways judgment: and he is able to humble those that walk with arrogance.
He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Therefore I will bring the worst of all the Gentiles, and they shall possess their houses; I will also cause the arrogance of the strong to cease; and their sanctuaries shall be defiled.
