But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute-mony. And they brought to him a penny. He saith to them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say to him, Cesar's. Then said he to them, Render therefore to Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And hearing it they marvelled. And they left him and went away.
And they send to him certain of the Pharisees, and of the Herodians, to catch him his talk. And they coming say to him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Cesar, or not? Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.read more.

And watching him, they sent forth spies, feigning themselves to be just men, to take hold of his discourse, that they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governour. And they asked him, saying, Master, we know, that thou speakest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou persons, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful for us, to give tribute to C?sar, or no?read more.
But he observing their craftiness, said to them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answering said, C?sar's. He said, Render therefore to C?sar the things which are C?sar's, and to God the things which are God's. And they could not take hold of his words before the people; and marvelling at his answer, they held their peace.
And fearing lest they should fall upon some rocky ground, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day. But when the sailors were attempting to flee out of the ship, and had let down the boat into the sea, under pretence that they were going to carry out anchors from the ship-head,
Therefore when thou dost alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
Wo to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like whited sepulchres, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful, but within are full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness. So ye likewise outwardly appear righteous to men; but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
And Jesus answering said, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.
And Jesus answering said, Take heed lest any deceive you. For many will come in my name saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many.
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ: And the time is near.
Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophecy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh to me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
He answering said to them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
In the mean time, an innumerable multitude being gathered together, so that they trod one upon another, he said to his disciples first, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
For even hereunto are ye called; for Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Destroying reasonings, and every high thing which exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
