And the ten hearing it, were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
Now in these days, the disciples multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every one a penny. And having received it, they murmured against the housholder, saying,
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil-speaking be put away from you with all malice.
Therefore I thought it necessary, to desire the brethren to go before to you, and compleat this your bounty, which had been spoken of before, that it may be ready as a bounty, and not as a matter of covetousness.
Looking diligently, lest any one fall from the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled: Lest there be any fornicator or profane person,
But if ye have bitter zeal and strife in your hearts, do not glory and lie against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, animal, devilish.
Murmur not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned; behold the judge standeth before the door.
Not that I speak in respect of want; for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, to be content.
But godliness with content is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world: it is manifest that neither can we carry any thing out. Having then food and covering, with these let us be content.read more.
But they that desire to be rich, fall into temptation, and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting, have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Let your disposition be without covetousness: be content with the things that are present; for he hath said, No, I will not leave thee: verily I will not forsake thee.
