A new commandment I give you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

On these two commandments

This is the first commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

How readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. And though I give all my goods to feed the poor, and deliver up my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.read more.
Love suffereth long and is kind; love envieth not; love acteth not rashly, is not puffed up: Doth not behave indecently, seeketh not her own, is not provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not at iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth: Covereth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. And when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall vanish away. When I was a child, I talked as a child, I understood as a child, I reasoned as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. And now we see by means of a glass obscurely; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I shall know even as also I am known. And now abide these three, faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love.

as Christ also hath loved us, and given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God of a sweet-smelling savour.

Touching brotherly love, we need not write to you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we love one another.

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

But when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any, that your Father who is in heaven, may forgive you also your trespasses.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemed; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother sin against thee, rebuke him, and if he repent, forgive him.

And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted; forgiving one another; as God also for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Now there was at Joppa, a certain disciple, named Tabitha, which is by interpretation Dorcas; this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

Then shall they also answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not micister to thee?

I have shewed you all things, that thus labouring ye ought to help the infirm, and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, which he himself said, It is happier to give than to receive.

And God hath set in the church, first, apostles, secondly, prophets, thirdly, teachers: afterward miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, different kinds of tongues.

For I know your readiness, which I boast concerning you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

A devout man, and fearing God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

And this I say, He that soweth sparingly, shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully, shall reap also bountifully: Let every man do as he chuseth in his heart, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a chearful giver.

To do good, to be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate,

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering:

And a servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle toward all men,

That they instruct the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their chidren, Discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

In like manner, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder, and be ye all subject to each other. Be ye cloathed with humility; for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

It shall not be so among you; but whosoever desireth to be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever desireth to be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

But it shall not be so among you; but whosoever desireth to be great among you, shall be your servant. And whosoever desireth to be the chief, shall be the servant of all. For the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind, esteem each the others better than themselves. Look not every one at his own things, but every one also at the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,read more.
Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; Yet emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready for every good work: To speak evil of no man, not to be quarrelsome, to be gentle, shewing all meekness toward all men.

Who is a wise and knowing man among you? Let him shew by a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be long suffering toward all men.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity,

With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering,

Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness:

be instant in season, out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.

Be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath patience for it, till he receive the early and the latter rain. Be ye also patient, stablish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is nigh. Murmur not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned; behold the judge standeth before the door.read more.
Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering, affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy that have endured. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord: for the Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Let every soul be subject to the supreme powers, for there is no power but from God; the powers that be, are appointed by God.

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the king as supreme, Or to governors,

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as unto the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ also is head of the church: (and he is the Saviour of the body) Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
