When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when he heard this, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.
Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with everything to enjoy.
Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal."
You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

But if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into court?
Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out against you; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry."'
But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?'
