"To him who smites you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, withhold not your coat also.

Then saith Jesus to him, "Return your sword to its place; for all taking a sword will perish by a sword.

Jesus, therefore, said to Peter, "Put up the sword into the sheathe. The cup which the Father hath given Me, shall I not drink it?"

not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to the wrath of God: for it has been written, "Vengeance is Mine; I will recompense," saith the Lord.

Alexander, the coppersmith, showed me much evil; the Lord will reward him according to his works:

Take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit appointed you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which He purchased with His own blood.

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil; because to us the struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the principalities, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

On this account, take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day; and, having fully accomplished all, to stand. Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are ye not my work in the Lord? If to others I am not an apostle, yet to you at least I am; for the seal of my apostleship are ye in the Lord. My defense to those examining me is this.

And Paul answered, the governor having beckoned to him to speak: "Knowing that you, for many years, have been a judge to this nation, cheerfully do I make defense as to the things concerning myself;

And, having spent among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and, on the morrow, sitting on the judgment-seat, he ordered Paul to be brought. And, when he presented himself, the Jews who came down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and grievous charges, which they were not able to prove; Paul saying in his defense, "Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, did I commit any sin."

And Agrippa said to Paul, "You are permitted to speak in your own behalf." Then Paul, stretching forth his hand, was making his defense: "I deem myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am about this day to make my defense before you, concerning all things of which I am being accused by Jews;

In my first defense, no one stood by me, but all forsook me. May it not be laid to their account!

And, when they bring you in before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say."

And, when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak; for it is not ye that speak, but, the Spirit of your Father Who speaketh in you.

And, when they lead you away, delivering you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak; but whatsoever is given you in that hour, this speak: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.

Settle it, therefore, in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to make a defense; for I will give you a mouth, and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or gainsay.
