instructing us to say ?No? to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;
as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance, but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy."
For enough time in the past has been spent doing the will of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries. They think it is strange that you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, blaspheming:
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.
