'Case' in the Bible

In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,‘You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;You will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.”

So Jesus told him, "In that case, the subjects are exempt. However, so that we don't offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, open its mouth, and you will find a coin. Take it and give it to them for me and you."

On the same day a party of Sadducees came to Him, contending that there is no resurrection. And they put this case to Him.

In that case how are the Scriptures to be fulfilled which declare that thus it must be?"

If a peaceful person lives there, your greeting of peace will remain with him. But if that's not the case, your greeting will come back to you.

"When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, don't sit down at the place of honor in case someone more important than you was invited by the host.

Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of earthly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?

For if they are doing these things in the case of the green tree, what will be done in that of the dry?"

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

Now the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery. They made her stand in the center of the court,

"Now," exclaimed the Jews, "we know that you are possessed by a demon. Abraham died, and so did the Prophets, and yet *you* say, 'If any one shall have obeyed my teaching, he shall in no case ever taste death.'

"If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have had no sin; but as the case stands they are without excuse for their sin.

"And now, brethren, I know that it was in ignorance that you did it, as was the case with your rulers also.

being extremely disturbed and thoroughly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in [the case of] Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

So in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrown;

When I was informed that there was a plot against the man, I sent him to you right away. I also ordered his accusers to state their case against him in your presence.

he said, "I will hear your case when your accusers arrive." Then he ordered Paul to be kept in custody in Herod's palace.

After five days Ananias the high priest came down with some elders and a lawyer named Tertullus. These men presented their case against Paul to the governor.

They examined me and wanted to let me go because there was no reason for me to receive the death penalty in my case.

Of course not! God is true, even if everyone else is a liar. As it is written, "You are right when you speak, and win your case when you go into court."

No indeed; for in that case how shall He judge all mankind?)

whereas in the case of a man who pleads no actions of his own, but simply believes in Him who declares the ungodly free from guilt, his faith is placed to his credit as righteousness.

not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, greedy, robbers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.

But if any man thinks that he is not acting properly and honorably toward his virgin daughter, [by not permitting her to marry], if she is past her youth, and it must be so, let him do as he wishes, he does not sin; let her marry.

But I have not used any of these rights, and I'm not writing this so that they may be applied in my case. I would rather die than let anyone deprive me of my reason for boasting.

If one of the unbelievers invites you [to a meal at his home] and you want to go, eat whatever is served to you without asking questions [about its source] for the sake of your conscience.

We are even discovered to be false witnesses [misrepresenting] God, because we testified concerning Him that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

In the case of such a person the punishment which was inflicted by the majority of you is enough.

In fact, what had been glorious is not glorious now by comparison because of the glory that surpasses it.

But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, as I was saying, you may be prepared;

Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

What does it matter, however? In any case Christ is preached--either perversely or in honest truth; and in that I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

Therefore, I hope [that it is His will] to send him immediately, just as soon as I see how my case turns out;

But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.

Even though we are speaking this way, dear friends, in your case we are confident of the better things connected with salvation.

In the one case, men who will die receive tenths, but in the other case, Scripture testifies that he lives.

And a will is only of force in the case of a deceased person, being never of any avail so long as he who made it lives.

In that case Christ would have needed to suffer many times, from the creation of the world onwards; but as a matter of fact He has appeared once for all, at the Close of the Ages, in order to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

For then would not the sacrifices have ceased to be offered, because the consciences of the worshippers--who in that case would now have been cleansed once for all--would no longer be burdened with sins?

But, idle boaster, are you willing to be taught how it is that faith apart from obedience is worthless? Take the case of Abraham our forefather.

But, as the case stands, it is in mere self-confidence that you boast: all such boasting is evil.

But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness [though it is not certain that you will], you are still blessed [happy, to be admired and favored by God]. Do not be afraid of their intimidating threats, nor be troubled or disturbed [by their opposition].

Their case is that described in the true proverb, "A dog returns to what he has vomited," and also in the other proverb, "The sow has washed itself and now goes back to roll in its filth."

So remember and take to heart the lessons you have received and heard. Keep and obey them, and repent [change your sinful way of thinking, and demonstrate your repentance with new behavior that proves a conscious decision to turn away from sin]. So then, if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.

In this case wisdom is needed: Let the person who has understanding calculate the total of the beast, since it is a human multitude, and the sum of the multitude is 600, 60 and six.
