'Help' in the Bible

Many are saying of me,“There is no help [no salvation] for him in God.” Selah.

That I may tell aloud all Your praises,That in the gates of the daughter of Zion (Jerusalem)I may rejoice in Your salvation and Your help.

Save and help and rescue, Lord, for godly people cease to be,For the faithful vanish from among the sons of men.

They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—Even to the Lord [they cried], but He did not answer them.

May He send you help from the sanctuary (His dwelling place)And support and strengthen you from Zion!

Do not be far from me, for trouble is near;And there is no one to help.

But You, O Lord, do not be far from me;O You my help, come quickly to my assistance.

Do not hide Your face from me,Do not turn Your servant away in anger;You have been my help;Do not abandon me nor leave me,O God of my salvation!

Hear the voice of my supplication (specific requests, humble entreaties) as I cry to You for help,As I lift up my hands and heart toward Your innermost sanctuary (Holy of Holies).

We wait [expectantly] for the Lord;He is our help and our shield.

When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hearsAnd rescues them from all their distress and troubles.

Take hold of shield and buckler (small shield),And stand up for my help.

Make haste to help me,O Lord, my Salvation.

Be pleased, O Lord, to save me;O Lord, make haste to help me.

Even though I am afflicted and needy,Still the Lord takes thought and is mindful of me.You are my help and my rescuer.O my God, do not delay.

Why are you in despair, O my soul?And why have you become restless and disturbed within me?Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise HimFor the help of His presence.

Why are you in despair, O my soul?Why have you become restless and disquieted within me?Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him,The help of my countenance and my God.

Why are you in despair, O my soul?And why are you restless and disturbed within me?Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him,The help of my [sad] countenance and my God.

Rise up! Come be our help,And ransom us for the sake of Your steadfast love.

God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable],A very present and well-proved help in trouble.

God is in the midst of her [His city], she will not be moved;God will help her when the morning dawns.

In God, whose word I praise;In God I have put my trust;I shall not fear.What can mere man do to me?

They run and set themselves against me though there is no guilt in me;Stir Yourself to meet and help me, and see [what they are doing]!

Give us help against the enemy,For the help of man is worthless (ineffectual, without purpose).

For You have been my help,And in the shadow of Your wings [where I am always protected] I sing for joy.

O God, come quickly to save me;O Lord, come quickly to help me!

But I am afflicted and needy;Come quickly to me, O God!You are my help and my rescuer;O Lord, do not delay.

O God, do not be far from me;O my God, come quickly to help me!

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name;Rescue us, forgive us our sins for Your name’s sake.

Show me a sign of [Your] goodwill,That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,Because You, O Lord, helped and comforted me.

O Lord, the God of my salvation,I have cried out [for help] by day and in the night before You.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit (grave);I am like a man who has no strength [a mere shadow],

Once You spoke in a vision to Your godly ones,And said, “I have given help to one who is mighty [giving him the power to be a champion for Israel];I have exalted one chosen from the people.

If the Lord had not been my help,I would soon have dwelt in [the land of] silence.

Therefore He humbled their heart with hard labor;They stumbled and there was no one to help.

Give us help against the adversary,For deliverance by man is in vain [a worthless hope].

Help me, O Lord my God;Save me according to Your lovingkindness—

O Israel, trust and take refuge in the Lord! [Be confident in Him, cling to Him, rely on His word!]He is their help and their shield.

O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord;He is their help and their shield.

You who [reverently] fear the Lord, trust in Lord;He is their help and their shield.

The Lord is on my side, He is among those who help me;Therefore I will look [in triumph] on those who hate me.

All Your commandments are faithful and trustworthy.They have persecuted me with a lie; help me [Lord]!

Let Your hand be ready to help me,For I have chosen Your precepts.

Let my soul live that it may praise You,And let Your ordinances help me.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]—From where shall my help come?

My help comes from the Lord,Who made heaven and earth.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,Who made heaven and earth.

Do not trust in princes,In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation (help).

How blessed and graciously favored is he whose help is the God of Jacob (Israel),Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
