'Off' in the Bible
Its roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions;It growls as it seizes the preyAnd carries it off with no one to deliver it.
So the Lord cuts off head and tail from Israel,Both palm branch and bulrush in a single day.
They slice off what is on the right hand but still are hungry,And they eat what is on the left hand but they are not satisfied;Each of them eats the flesh of his own arm.
Behold, the Lord, the God of hosts, will lop off the boughs with a terrible crash;Those also who are tall in stature will be cut downAnd those who are lofty will be abased.
“Those who are most helpless will eat,And the needy will lie down in security;I will destroy your root with famine,And it will kill off your survivors.
Therefore the abundance which they have acquired and stored upThey carry off over the brook of Arabim.
at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go and loosen the sackcloth from your hips and take your shoes off your feet.” And he did so, going naked and barefoot.
In that day,” declares the Lord of hosts, “the peg driven in a firm place will give way; it will even break off and fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.”
When its limbs are dry, they are broken off;Women come and make a fire with them,For they are not a people of discernment,Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them.And their Creator will not be gracious to them.
So their slain will be thrown out,And their corpses will give off their stench,And the mountains will be drenched with their blood.
“Like a shepherd’s tent my dwelling is pulled up and removed from me;As a weaver I rolled up my life.He cuts me off from the loom;From day until night You make an end of me.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,And marked off the heavens by the span,And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure,And weighed the mountains in a balanceAnd the hills in a pair of scales?
“I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off;And My salvation will not delay.And I will grant salvation in Zion,And My glory for Israel.
“Take the millstones and grind meal.Remove your veil, strip off the skirt,Uncover the leg, cross the rivers.
“For the sake of My name I delay My wrath,And for My praise I restrain it for you,In order not to cut you off.
