In this self-same day went in Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, sons of Noah, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them, unto the ark;

And he said, "Cursed [be] Canaan, a slave of slaves he shall be to his brothers."

Then he said, "Blessed [be] Yahweh, the God of Shem, and let Canaan be a slave to them.

May God make space for Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be a slave for him."

Abram continued, “Look, You have given me no offspring, so a slave born in my house will be my heir.”

Abram’s wife Sarai had not borne any children for him, but she owned an Egyptian slave named Hagar.

Sarai said to Abram, “Since the Lord has prevented me from bearing children, go to my slave; perhaps through her I can build a family.” And Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

So Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar, her Egyptian slave, and gave her to her husband Abram as a wife for him. This happened after Abram had lived in the land of Canaan 10 years.

Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for my suffering! I put my slave in your arms, and ever since she saw that she was pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the Lord judge between me and you.”

Abram replied to Sarai, “Here, your slave is in your hands; do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai mistreated her so much that she ran away from her.

He said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?”

She replied, “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai.”

Throughout your generations, every male among you at eight days old is to be circumcised. This includes a slave born in your house and one purchased with money from any foreigner. The one who is not your offspring,

a slave born in your house, as well as one purchased with money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be marked in your flesh as an everlasting covenant.

And Abraham taketh Ishmael his son, and all those born in his house, and all those bought with his money -- every male among the men of Abraham's house -- and circumciseth the flesh of their foreskin, in this self-same day, as God hath spoken with him.

And Jehovah has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great. And He has given him flocks and herds and silver and gold, and male slaves and slave women, and camels and asses.

These are the family records of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s slave, bore to Abraham.

And Laban gave his slave Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her slave.

Then she said, “Here is my slave Bilhah. Go sleep with her, and she’ll bear children for me so that through her I too can build a family.”

Rachel’s slave Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.

When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she took her slave Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife.

And Zilpah, the female slave of Leah, bore a son to Jacob.

When Leah’s slave Zilpah bore Jacob a second son,

And if he causes the tooth of his male slave or the tooth of his female slave to fall out, he will release him as free in place of his tooth.

If the ox gores a male slave or a female slave, he will give thirty shekels of silver to his master, and the ox will be stoned.

" 'Six days you will do your work, but on the seventh day you will stop so that your ox and your donkey will rest and the son of your slave woman and the alien will be refreshed.

and in the candlestick self, four cups like unto almonds with their knops and flowers:

Thou, therefore, take to thee - principal spices, - self-flowing myrrh, five hundred, and fragrant cinnamon, half as much, two hundred and fifty, and, fragrant cane, two hundred and fifty;

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

And upon the candlestick self, were four cups after the fashion of almonds with knops and flowers:

But, if she he clean from her flow, then shall she count to her-self seven days and afterwards, shall she count herself clean.

“This is to be a permanent statute for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month you are to practice self-denial and do no work, both the native and the foreigner who resides among you.

It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must practice self-denial; it is a permanent statute.

‘Now if a man has intimate relations with a woman who is a slave acquired for [marriage to] another man, but who has not been redeemed nor given her freedom, there shall be punishment [after an investigation]; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free;

But if a priest buys a slave as his property with his money, the slave may eat the holy thing, and those who are born in the priest’s house; they may eat his food.

And bread and roasted corn and full ears ye do not eat until this self-same day, until your bringing in the offering of your God -- a statute age-during to your generations, in all your dwellings.

and ye have proclaimed on this self-same day: a holy convocation is to you, ye do no servile work -- a statute age-during in all your dwellings, to your generations.

“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You are to hold a sacred assembly and practice self-denial; you are to present a fire offering to the Lord.

and ye do no work in this self-same day, for it is a day of atonements, to make atonement for you, before Jehovah your God.

'For any person who is not humbled in this self-same day hath even been cut off from his people;

and any person who doth any work in this self-same day I have even destroyed that person from the midst of his people;

It will be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must practice self-denial. You are to observe your Sabbath from the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening.”

And a Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you: for you and for your slave and for your slave woman and for your hired worker and for your temporary residents who are dwelling as aliens with you;

A jubilee, shall that fiftieth year be unto you, - ye shall not sow, neither shall ye reap the self-grown corn thereof, nor cut off the grapes of the unpruned vines thereof.

‘And if your fellow countryman becomes so poor [in his dealings] with you that he sells himself to you [as payment for a debt], you shall not let him do the work of a slave [who is ineligible for redemption],

Because they [are] my servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt, they shall not be sold {as a slave}.

" 'As for your slave and your slave woman who are yours, from the nations that [are] all around you, from them you may buy a slave or a slave woman.

And I will put my dwelling place in your midst, and my inner self shall not abhor you.

and if you reject my statutes and if your inner self abhors my regulations, to not carry out all my commands [by] your breaking my covenant,

And I will destroy your high places, and I will cut down your incense altars, and I will place your corpses on your idols' corpses; and my inner self shall abhor you.

And the land shall be deserted by them, and it shall enjoy its Sabbaths in its being desolate from them, and they themselves must pay for their guilt, {simply because} they rejected my regulations, and their inner self abhorred my statutes.

On the seventh day you shall have a holy [summoned] assembly; you shall do no laborious work.
