Stood up

Jacob was told that his son Joseph had come to see him. He gathered his strength and sat up in bed.
Even the royal officials have come to congratulate His Majesty King David, saying: May your God make Solomon's name more famous than yours and his reign greater than your reign. The king himself bowed down on his bed

My brethren

Then all Israel came together to David at Hebron. They said: Indeed we are your bone and your flesh.
you shall surely set a king over you whom Jehovah your God chooses. It will be one from among your countrymen. You may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman.
I will tell my people about your name. I will praise you within the congregation.
Both he who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all from one. For this reason Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.

I had in mine heart

David settled in his palace. He said to Nathan the prophet: Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah is under a tent.
King David was settled in his palace. Jehovah kept him safe from all his enemies.
Solomon continued: My father David planned to build a temple for the worship of Jehovah the God of Israel,

Rest

These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of Jehovah after the ark came to rest there.
He said: I will not step inside my house,

The footstool

Exalt Jehovah our God and worship at his footstool! (Isaiah 66:1) He is holy.
Let us go to his dwelling place. Let us worship at his footstool.
This is what Jehovah says: Heaven is my throne. Earth is my footstool. Where can you people build a house or resting place for me?
In his anger Jehovah covered Zion with clouds of darkness. He changed its heavenly splendor into ruins. On the day of his anger he abandoned even his footstool.
Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool. What house will you build me? Said Jehovah God. What is the place of my rest? (Isaiah 66:1)

Had made ready

David took the gold shields that Hadadezer's servants carried. He brought them to Jerusalem.
So David gave orders to assemble the foreigners living in Israel. He appointed stonecutters from among them to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God.

General references

Those who were willing and whose hearts moved them brought their contributions to Jehovah. The gifts were used to construct the tent of meeting, to pay other expenses, and to make the holy clothes.
