And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
In the strength
At the end of ten days their appearance seemed
better and they were fatter than all the youths who had been eating the king’s choice food.
2 Corinthians 12:9
And He has said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for Most gladly, therefore, I will rather power is perfected in weakness.” boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Moses entered the midst of the cloud
as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
So he was there with the Lord
forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord had made with you, then I remained on the mountain forty days and nights;
I neither ate bread nor drank water.
And after He had
fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.
And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by
Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.
forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He became hungry.
Now Moses was pasturing the flock of
Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.
Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.
Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses
in the wilderness where he was camped, at the mount of God.
