He kept the promise he made to my father David, when he told him: ¹⁶ ‘Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’ ¹⁷ Solomon continued: My father David planned to build a temple for the worship of Jehovah the God of Israel,

Deuteronomy 12:11

I will let Solomon's son keep one tribe. That way I will always have a descendant of my servant David ruling in Jerusalem, the city I have chosen as the place where I am worshiped.
