but if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

For he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.

(for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent,

a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.

so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord,

to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to

walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more.

And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
