Israel's King Menahem

¹⁸ And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and turned not all his days from the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nebat which made Israel sin. ¹⁹ And Pul, king of Assyria, came upon the land. And Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, to help him to establish his kingdom. ²⁰ And Menahem raised the money in Israel, upon all men of substance, for to give the king of Assyria fifty sicles of silver apiece. And the king of Assyria turned back again and tarried not there in the land.
