Thanksgiving For The Thessalonian Believers

3 Brothers, at all times we are obligated to thank God for you. It is right to do this because your faith is growing all the time and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.

3 We ought always (F)to give thanks to God for you, (G)brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the (H)love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater;

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

3 We must always thank God for you, brothers. This is right, since your faith is flourishing and the love(D) each one of you has for one another(E) is increasing.(F)

3 We ought always and indeed are morally obligated [as those in debt] to give thanks to God for you, (a)brothers and sisters, as is fitting, because your faith is growing ever greater, and the [unselfish] (b)love of each one of you toward one another is continually increasing.

4 As a result, we rejoice about you among God's churches about your endurance and faith through all the persecutions and afflictions you are experiencing.

4 therefore, we ourselves (I)speak proudly of you among (J)the churches of God for your (a)perseverance and faith (K)in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

4 Therefore, we ourselves boast(G) about you among God’s churches—about your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you endure.

4 Therefore, we speak of you with pride among the churches of God for your steadfastness [your unflinching endurance, and patience] and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecution and [crushing] distress which you endure.

The Judgment At Christ's Coming

5 This is evidence of God's righteous judgment and is intended to make you worthy of God's kingdom, for which you are suffering.

5 This is a (L)plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be (M)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

5 It is a clear evidence of God’s righteous(H) judgment(I) that you will be counted worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you also are suffering,(J)

5 This is a positive proof of the righteous judgment of God [a sign of His fair verdict], so that you will be considered worthy of His kingdom, for which indeed you are suffering.

6 Certainly it is right for God to pay back those who afflict you with affliction,

6 (b)For after all (N)it is only just (c)for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

6 since it is righteous for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you

6 For after all it is only just for God to repay with distress those who distress you,

7 and to give us who are afflicted relief when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels

7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted (d)and to us as well (e)(O)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed (P)from heaven (Q)with (f)His mighty angels (R)in flaming fire,

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

7 and to reward with rest you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His powerful angels,

7 and to give relief to you who are so distressed and to us as well when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire,

8 in blazing fire. He will take revenge on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

8 dealing out retribution to those who (S)do not know God and to those who (T)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

8 taking vengeance with flaming fire(K) on those who don’t know God(L) and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.(M)

8 dealing out [full and complete] vengeance to those who do not [seek to] know God and to those who ignore and refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus [by choosing not to respond to Him].

9 Such people will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction by being separated from the Lord's presence and from his glorious power

9 These will pay the penalty of (U)eternal destruction, (V)away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction(N) from the Lord’s presence(O) and from His glorious strength(P)

9 These people will pay the penalty and endure the punishment of (c)everlasting destruction, banished from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

10 when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be regarded with wonder on that day by all who have believed including you, because you believed our testimony.

10 when He comes to be (W)glorified (g)in His (h)saints on that (X)day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed—for our (Y)testimony to you was believed.

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

10 in that day when He comes(Q) to be glorified(R) by His saints(S) and to be admired by all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed.

10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day [that is, glorified through the changed lives of those who have accepted Him as Savior and have been set apart for His purpose], and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed and trusted [and confirmed in your lives].

11 With this in mind, we always pray for you, asking that our God might make you worthy of his calling and that through his power he might help you accomplish every good desire and faithful action.

11 To this end also we (Z)pray for you always, that our God will (i)(AA)count you worthy of your (AB)calling, and fulfill every desire for (AC)goodness and the (AD)work of faith with power,

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

11 And in view of this, we always pray for you that our God will consider you worthy of His calling,(T) and will, by His power, fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith,(U)

11 With this in view, we constantly pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of your calling [to faith] and with [His] power fulfill every desire for goodness, and complete [your] every work of faith,

12 That way the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified by you, and you by him, according to the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus, the Messiah.

12 so that the (AE)name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

12 so that the name(V) of our Lord Jesus will be glorified(W) by you, and you by Him,(X) according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you [by what you do], and you in Him, according to the [precious] grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
