1 There was then in Caesarea a man named Cornelius, a Captain in the regiment known as the 'Italian Regiment,'

20 Go down at once and do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

21 Peter went down to the men and said: "I am the man for whom you are looking. What is your reason for coming?"

21 So Peter went to the men and said, "I'm the man you're looking for. Why are you here?"
22 The men replied: "Our captain, Cornelius, a pious man who reverences God and is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, has been instructed by a holy angel to send for you to his house, and to listen to what you have to say."
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and (AA)God-fearing man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, (AB)was divinely directed by a (AC)holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear (s)(AD)a message from you.”
22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you.”(M)
22 The men replied, "Cornelius, a centurion and an upright and God-fearing man who is respected by the whole Jewish nation, was instructed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his home to hear what you have to say."
23 Upon this Peter invited them in and entertained them. The next day he lost no time in setting out with them, accompanied by some of the Brethren from Jaffa;
23 So he invited them in and gave them lodging.And on the next day he got up and went away with them, and (AE)some of (AF)the brethren from (AG)Joppa accompanied him.

28 And he said to them, “You yourselves know how (AL)unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet (AM)God has shown me that I should not call any man (u)unholy or unclean.
28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
28 Peter said to them, “You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner.(P) But God has shown me that I must not call any person common or unclean.(Q)
28 He told them, "You understand how wrong it is for a Jew to associate or visit with unbelievers. But God has shown me that I should stop calling anyone common or unclean,
29 That was why I came, when I was sent for, without raising any objection. And now I ask your reason for sending for me."
29 That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. So I ask for what reason you have sent for me.”
29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
29 That’s why I came without any objection when I was sent for. So I ask: Why did you send for me?”
29 and that is why I didn't hesitate when I was sent for. Now may I ask why you sent for me?"
30 "Just three days ago this very hour," Cornelius said, "I was in my house, saying the Afternoon Prayers, when a man in dazzling clothing suddenly stood before me.
30 Cornelius said, “(AN)Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during (AO)the (v)ninth hour; and behold, (AP)a man stood before me in shining garments,
30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
30 Cornelius replied, “Four days ago at this hour, at three in the afternoon,(d) I was(e) praying in my house. Just then a man in a dazzling robe stood before me(R)
30 Cornelius replied, "Four days ago at this very hour, three o'clock in the afternoon, I was praying in my home. All at once a man in radiant clothes stood in front of me
31 'Cornelius,' he said, 'your prayer has been heard, and your charities have been accepted, by God.
31 and he *said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your (w)alms have been remembered before God.
31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your acts of charity have been remembered in God’s sight.
31 and said, "Cornelius, your prayer has been heard. God has remembered your gifts to the poor,
32 Therefore send to Jaffa, and invite the Simon, who is also known as Peter, to come here. He is lodging in the house of Simon the tanner, near the sea.'
32 Therefore send to (AQ)Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon the tanner by the sea.’
32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 So I sent for you immediately, and you have (x)been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”
33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
33 Therefore I immediately sent for you, and you did the right thing in coming. So we are all present before God, to hear everything you have been commanded by the Lord.”
33 So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. All of us are here now in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has ordered you to say."
34 Then Peter began. "I see, beyond all doubt," he said, "that 'God does not show partiality,'
34 (AR)Opening his mouth, Peter said:“I most certainly understand now that (AS)God is not one to show partiality,
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
34 Then Peter began to speak: "Now I understand that God shows no partiality.
35 But that in every nation he who reverences him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
35 but (AT)in every nation the man who (y)(AU)fears Him and (z)does what is right is welcome to Him.
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
35 but in every nation the person who fears Him and does righteousness is acceptable to Him.
35 Indeed, whoever fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him in any nation.
36 God has sent his Message to the Israelites and told them, through Jesus Christ, the Good News of peace--and Jesus is Lord of all!
36 The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, (AV)preaching (aa)(AW)peace through Jesus Christ (He is (AX)Lord of all)—

36 He has sent his word to the descendants of Israel and brought them the good news of peace through Jesus the Messiah. This man is the Lord of everyone.
37 You yourselves know the story which spread through all Judea, how, beginning form Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed--
37 you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed.

44 Before Peter had finished saying these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening to the Message.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

47 "Can any one refuse the water for the baptism of these people, now that they have received the Holy Spirit as we did ourselves?"
47 “(BS)Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who (BT)have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
47 “Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”(AD)
47 "No one can stop us from using water to baptize these people who have received the Holy Spirit in the same way that we did, can they?"
48 And he directed that they should be baptized in the Faith of Jesus Christ; after which they asked him to stay there a few days longer.
