And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
Now a Jew named
Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.
It happened that while
Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples.
For Paul had decided to sail past
Ephesus so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
